In a world of disconnection and imbalance how do we re-align ourselves with the wisdom of Nature? Yoga, at its roots, is designed to connect us to our essential natural Selves, and reconnecting to Nature is vital to heal and restore personal and collective balance.
This multi-leveled class brings the healing power of Nature into our practice. Taking place on the shores of Norwood Cove with the wind, the sky and the ocean this class aims to center and inspire.
The pace is slow and steady. The practice starts with warming poses first, and then offers salutations and standing or seated pose sequences. The physical asanas are a means for de-stressing and emptying so that we can be present with ourselves and embrace Nature’s offerings for connected living off the mat.

The class takes place in the Pool area on the shore of Norwood Cove. When you arrive by car at the Causeway Club, park in the lot right next to the road in front of the Red Barn. Then walk (7 - 10 mins.) down the road to the pool and tennis court area. Please allow time for this walk.
The flat grassy area below the pool and right next to the shore is where the class takes place. White flags will mark where to set up your mat. Align the upper left hand corner of your mat with the white flag.
Everyone must bring their own Yoga props: a mat, 2 blocks, a long strap or belt and a blanket.
Bring LAYERS OF CLOTHING. Outside right on the shore can be balmy or chilly especially if there is a breeze coming off the water. BE PREPARED SO YOU ARE COMFORTABLE!
The entrance to the pool and tennis is quite narrow and can become easily congested. With both yoga people and tennis people arriving at the same time, it could be difficult to maintain social distance.
Many people are vaccinated, some are not. Covid-19 is still in our community. In order to be inclusive of everyones' choices I have devised the following protocol.
Put on your mask before entering the pool/tennis enclosure. Keep your mask on until you have set up your mat space. Once you are on your mat you may remove your mask.
Do put your mask back on before packing up your belongings and wear it until you are clear of the pool and tennis area. Thank you.
PHOEBE has over 20 years experience teaching yoga privately and in classes in fitness clubs, the “Y”, her own studio in MA and the Harbor House here in SWH. She has trained in a variety of Yoga Traditions and has evolved her own style exploring both the body landscape and the inner landscape of the mind and heart. A year round resident of MDI she is thrilled for the opportunity to teach outside at the Causeway Club.
